I recently saw an article online (I forget where) and I copied this little snippet of information to pass on:
"Find a service which somebody is charging money for on the Internet. Offer a similar service for Free and have no sales messages on the site in the early days. "
That comes from Cory Rudl. It's an "obvious" way to make money but it isn't so obvious that everyone does it. It's often overlooked.
Clone a popular site/book/tool/service and run it for free until you get links. Then switch to a revenue-earning model at some point either via upgrades ("Pro" version, etc) or just from ad-space, reselling, retailing etc.
Elance.com or Scriptlance.com can get you *something* created under your own name relatively cheaply. My article this issue deals with this a little more. Or you can create your own e-book, which can be as easy as a software or article compilation. We have added a Article Database to Netpreneur Now this month (browse, or add your own). We've also added Jimmy Browns "Ebook Creator Toolkit" - so you have no excuses now!
There are so many ways you can make money it's unbelievable. All it takes is dedication and application. As I discovered recently, time AWAY from the Internet can do wonders! Make sure at least half the time you're at the computer you're NOT on the 'net. The Internet is diverse and interesting it's far too easy to let it take over. That's one of the dangers of working from home.
I'd estimate that far less than 10% of marketers make significant amounts of money on-line and that's a shame. It's one of the only businesses where you can start small at almost no cost and get all the help, tools and materials you need freely. All it takes, from you, is a little dedication and application.

The Seven Deadly Roadblocks to Success Chris Widener
When traveling down the road it is always good to beware of roadblocks! You don't want to crash and burn do you? The same is true in our journey toward success. We need to beware of those things that will keep us from our destination!
What are the most common? Here they are:
Fear. Fear is one of the worst enemies of success. When fear wraps its tentacles around you and keeps you in bondage, you will never be able to reach for your dreams. We must confront our fears, see them for what they are, toss them to the side, and pursue our dreams with relentless passion. Conquering fear and stepping forward to reach new lands and new ideas is what makes success possible. What are you afraid of today? What fear must you conquer to be able to achieve your dream? When you realize what it is, take an action that is diametrically opposed to that which you fear. This will confront and conquer the fear by giving you the first step in the right direction.
Lethargy. Quite frankly, what keeps most people from success is that they simply don't have the energy, or make the energy, to do what it takes to move to the next level. They get to a point that is comfortable and then they settle in for a nice, life-long nap! Don't get lethargic; get going! Force yourself to wake up from the slumber and move!
Lack of perseverance. Often times the race is lost because the race is not finished. Success is often just around the sharpest corner or the steepest hill. Persevere. Keep going. One more hill. One more corner! In real estate they say the three most important things are "location, location, location." In success the three most important things are "perseverance, perseverance, perseverance."
Pessimism. The saying is that you can achieve what you believe. Ask yourself what kinds of beliefs you hold. Are you an optimist or a pessimist? If you don't believe that you can achieve than you won't. Your pessimism will prove yourself right every time. You will find that you subconsciously undermine yourself. Develop your optimism. Look for ways to believe that you can achieve success.
Not taking responsibility. I am the volunteer chaplain for the local police department. The other day I went with an officer as he took two prisoners to court. Time after time the prisoners made excuses as to why they hadn't yet done what the judge had ordered (she didn't buy it, by the way). After dropping the prisoners off, I said to the officer that unsuccessful people and prisoners have the same bad habit - they won't accept responsibility for their lives. You are responsible. When you accept that, you are on the road to success.
Picking the wrong people to hang out with. We can easily become products of our environment. This is why it is essential to hang around people who will spur you on not hold you back! What about the people you have surrounded yourself with? Are they quality people who will encourage you and strengthen you in your quest for success? If not, move on!
No vision. Those who succeed always see their success months and years before they live it. They have the ability to look ahead, see the future, imagine the good that can and will come from their lives, families and work. To not have vision is a tremendous roadblock. Sit down and work on seeing the future - and make it good!

For example, if you are a skilled writer you can bid for the contract on many projects involving Ghostwriting, Copywriting and everything inbetween. For example, recent projects include writing for a fantasy online game. It's best to look at current bids to see where to place your own - and as any business owner knows the lowest tender doesn't always win.
If you need services yourself you must post a project in as much detail as possible including what you want and when you want it. For example, "I am looking for a flash header graphic for my website. It is a business site so it must look professional and fit with the overall page design" - or "I require a book ghostwritten on how to secure finance and grants for a startup company. Rough size 35,000 words." Note: A "Ghostwritten" article or book is one where you retain copyright and can pass the item as "written" by yourself.
All you need is the idea. And, if pushed, you can simply post a project which asks for a "clone" of an existing popular tool or service...
