Hello ~~NAME~~, and Welcome!
Server moves have plagued me this week.
It's a pain moving servers and a better backup system would have
helped me no end :( Still, I'm now on another server and it's all
working fine - bar the scripts. This means FFA, Classifieds, Forum,
Randomizer and the ad rotations provided by PhpAdsNew are not
working. Not a great loss but they are all traffic sources to
NetpreneurNow.com. They'll be back up "soon".
NetpreneurNow had to move since my host closed their server, and
Button Swap had the same problem. I've now changed to
Hostoodle.com which is a reseller service, allowing me to host
multiple domains. These reseller services are a bargain since you
can put everything in one place and manage them easily with the
industry-standard C-Panel.
MembersSite.net is unaffected by this move and I've added a
couple more downloads (see below). E-mail was affected so if you
sent anything important and I didn't reply please try again.
Finally don't forget you can get more-or-less daily updates at
the Blog! This is at http://netpreneurnow.blogspot.com and
there you'll find lots of litle nuggets of information such as
quick tips, useful websites, new downloads, etc. It's a cool place
to bookmark. Also the forum is ready and waiting at http://www.netpreneurnow.com/forum though it's still quiet.

A great `side effect` of using a Blog is that you can receive
the headlines direct to your desktop. Download a "Rss News
Reader" app and enter the blogs newsfeed address, and away you
go! With the e-mail situation as it is this may be the best
way to receive Netpreneur News information in bite-sized chunks.
RSS Feeds are currently one of the hot topics on the net and
apart from receiving Netpreneur News you can subscribe to a lot
of news resources, blogs, ezines and other useful sources of
information -- direct to your desktop.

Here's this weeks Ebook Review - focusing on Website Design.
Not only for marketers, but more of a general guide. It does what
it says on the box and is a great starting point for anyone knew
to the art (or is it science?).
A pair of e-books that cover the tricky subject of installing
scripts on your pages. This is something that gets a lot of people
into a lot of bother... hopefully these two will help.
A very good package that includes the sales page and more. This
guide covers everything you need to know. It even has video
tutorials. If you need something that is in a step-by-step "do
this, then this" format take a look. After all, like everything
here it's fr'ee! You may need to build on your knowledge to
improve your sites but to get _something_ up that looks rights
just follow this guide.
This famous book is focused on building one-page marketing sites,
or "mini sites". These have been proven to work and almost all
sales pages you see today still follow the format. Killer Mini
Sites is more focused on the marketing sites than the other
guides.
Another comprehensive HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) guide
that this time gets down to the `nitty gritty` of your web pages,
the code behind the scenes. Many people feel more comfortable with
using HTML directly rather than a web-design package (as do I) so
if that appeals this is a both a great reference and a tutorial

Apart from these books there are a lot more at the Members Site
that cover web design as part of their content. Once you know how
to build a web site you need to put something on it - and for
marketing that involves the tricky subject of Copywriting. It is
said that Copywriting is THE most essential skill you can have to
sell on-line and we cover that in the next issue.

New traffic systems appear regularly. Traffic Plus is one such
offering, from JPE Advertising. I haven't looked into it too
deeply but at first glance it's somewhat similiar to programs
like 10 Minutes A Day or MPAM (which is too involved to be
practical). So far I'm quite impressed, and anything fr-ee has
to be worth a look!
For a long time now I've published my phone number, but here's the
secret. It's a special number provided by Yac.co.uk. As the domain
suggests, it's for us lucky UK residents but they'll give you a
fr'ee phone number that you can set to either forward to another
phone, answer with a menu, receive faxes, or act as an answering
machine that e-mails you an MP3 of the call. This protects your
real phone number which is easily abused by unscrupulous people.
There are probably comparable USA phone services, I'll try and
find some by next issue :-)
Bryan Winters of PBP has published a useful resource at his
webpage, that gives you a quick one-page checklist of everything
you need to include on your sales letters.
It's really an online article but this is worth printing out and
keeping if you can.

A one-page site full of useful Domain Name tools so you can perform
a WHOIS search, IP searches, check abuse records, make strange
domain addresses readable, and much more.
The exchange site Clix have a good article at their site
especially for all Exchange Owners. Lots of good advice here, from
those who practice what they preach. If you run a traffix exchange
you could do far worse than take a look. I'd guess they are
technically `rivals` but their advice is still sound!

If you ask most people what frustrates them most about the
Internet, many of them will tell you "It's the little
things!"
It seems like all the great tricks and tips that
make people exclaim "STOP! How did you do that?" never make
it into any manual (at least where I can find them).
My father (and co-author of "Turn Words Into Traffic")
calls it the "reverse oral tradition" of computing, where
children teach parents the survival skills of PC life.

~^~ Cool Google Tricks ~^~
Virtually everyone knows that Google.com ranks at the top
of most people's search engine lists, but it does a lot
more than just tell you where to find vitamins or
information on George Washington's wooden teeth!
Need a map to a specific location?
Type in the address, city and state of virtually any
location in the US, hit the search button, and Google
serves up several different map providers across the Web.
Want to know what software application a certain file goes
with on your computer?
Input the file name into Google's search box and a number
of reference sites will help you know exactly what purpose
a file serves.
I actually used this to feature to identify a piece of
"spyware" lurking on my computer.
Want to know who's calling you on the phone in the US?
You can just input the phone number on your caller ID or
cell phone display into the Google search box and get
information on listed numbers before your answering machine
can even pick up!
Next time you can't see small text clearly on a website,
try holding down the "CTRL" key and then moving the scroll
wheel on your mouse up and down.
The text in your web browser (and some programs) will
increase and decrease in size as you roll the wheel back
and forth.
This little trick provides an excellent means of quickly
getting what you need from websites with tiny text.
~^~ Slow Surfing? ~^~
If your Internet Explorer web browser starts giving you
problems, you might want to clean up your "Temporary
Internet Files."
Most people don't realize it, but when you leave a web
page, it doesn't leave you!
Most of the time you keep a copy of websites you visit on
your hard drive and, over time, they build up.
This collection of old web pages can eventually cause your
surfing to slow to a crawl and even cause errors!
Here's one way to clear out those old files. Click your
"Start" button, then "All Programs," "Accessories," "System
Tools" and "Disk Cleanup."
After an initial check of your hard drive (which can take
some time if it's the first time you've ever launched the
utility), you can check the boxes of the files you wish to
delete.
To speed up your surfing, at a minimum, make sure you
delete the "Temporary Internet Files."
~^~ Surfing Shortcuts ~^~
To quickly cycle back and forth through a series of web
pages you've visited, hold down the "ALT" key and tap your
left and right arrow keys.
Left arrow takes you back while the Right arrow takes you
forward.
The Page Up and Page Down buttons allow you to quickly move
up and down any web page without struggling to find the
scroll bar slider on the right side of the page.
