Hi All!
First, a BIG APOLOGY.
Many of you have received multiple emails from our new mail server. A
lot of you unsubscribed, so a big thank you to those who remain. This
is the most major catastrophe I've suffered since I began this ezine
just over a year ago. It won't happen again!
Apart from that I'm very happy with the Empire Building Essentials
package from UFD. This one hiccup doesn't take away the good points. It
seems the problem was server load. This has been resolved. In a few
weeks they also promise to roll out a newer list solution, so we'll see

I was once like so many people out there. I wanted to make
money online and thought, “how hard can it be? I know how
to use the internet. I know a little html, I check my email
constantly, I even had my web site/blog before.”
I thought I knew all there was to know about how the internet
works. It didn't take me long to realize that internet
*marketing* was an entirely different game.
"What in the heck was I thinking?" That's what goes through
my mind time and time again these days. I had found a good
legitimate business to run from the Internet and set
everything up for myself.
In fact, I found TWO. Both sank like rocks. Why?
"What was I doing wrong?" I thought.
I know you've heard this before (and if you haven't...listen
up) but if you build it they won't come. Its that simple.
Think about it, how would they know you were even there?
Its the internet! You have to find your customers and
entice them to come to your domain.
How do your family and friends know you're on the net? You
told them or they asked and then you told them.
You can't just sit back after you're all set up. You have to
tell people, "Hey, I have this great product!
Buy it here ===>."
I know you're thinking, "Leotra, that costs money! and I
don't have a lot of it or I may not be selling stuff in the
first place."
I would challenge that concept. There are two simple things
you could do to boost traffic to your site or affiliate link
that won't cost much, if anything.
Actually, there are three but my mission today is to talk
about the first two.
The first thing you can do is advertise in ezines, you're
probably reading an ezine write now. Did you notice the
"sponsor" on your way in? How about in the middle of the
issue?
Now think about all the other people who just got this
publication in the mail. Go ahead literally stop right
now and think. I'll wait...
And what about all the zillion other ezines out there?
Amazing isn't it? I know of an ezine that 15 thousand
people subscribe to and how much does a middle ad cost you
for this publication? $7.98
That's sooo much money isn't it? Geez, you may have to
bring your lunch tomorrow instead of buying.
Or stop smoking for a couple of days. (It was
bad for you anyway right?)
You have no excuse not to advertise now that I've told you.
And there are plenty of directories out there full of ezine
owners just waiting for you to plunk down the Starbucks
money.
"I still, just can't do it." Darn you big tobacco. **shakes
fist at imaginary high-rise** I'll tell you what, there is
another option. Enter, thing number two.
You can write articles for the ezines. A lot of editors are
super busy people. And there are books out there that can
help you with how write. More time is spent reading an
article than an ad anyway.
Just don't make it a sales letter for your product.
I believe it was Terry Dean who once said, "show your worth
then collect the profit." Or something close to that.
My advice would be: get to work. Find a good ezine
directory and search for some ezines that meet your budget.

ERROR MARKETING - AN UNUSED PROFIT CENTER
If I was on your web site and landed on your 404 - file not
found error page, what would I see? Most sites just have the
same old dull message:
404 ERROR - FILE NOT FOUND ON THIS SERVER
We must get TONS of hits on that page, and I'm sure you do
too, so why not take the chance to market? Web sites change
all the time. Pages come and go. If you have been online for
any length of time, you no doubt have many pages that are
not used, or have been deleted.
Have you thought about customizing that error page? One
company even offers a service where they sell advertising on
that page. I'm not listing them here because we looked into
it, and we can earn Much more by advertising our own
products & services on our 404 error page.
Now, you don't have to be concerned about taking down that
page you no longer use in fear that someone may see an old
link somewhere and get your 404 Error. If your offer is
effective (and it should be) you will hope that they see
your 404 page!
If you don't have anything to offer on your error page, you
might consider offering someone else's product, or selling
advertising on that page.
On many Unix servers the page will be listed in your www
directory as Missing.html. Just modify that page to include
your offer (you need to leave the "Page Not Found" message
on the page so that your visitors will understand how they
got there). If you are not sure which page is your 404 Error
page, just ask your hosting company and they can tell you.
If they don't allow you to modify that page, get a different
host!
With just a little imagination and effort, you can turn a
normally dry and dull page on your site into perhaps one of
the best selling pages you have with Error Marketing!
